Awe—that profound feeling of wonder when encountering something vast and transcendent—has emerging potential as a psychological intervention. This research investigates how nature-induced awe experiences impact psychological wellbeing and cognitive functioning. Through both naturalistic studies and controlled laboratory experiments, including virtual reality interventions, we explore how awe affects stress reduction, creativity, and prosocial behavior.
The project examines whether structured awe experiences can serve as accessible mental health tools, particularly relevant in our urbanized, screen-dominated environments. This work bridges environmental psychology with clinical applications, investigating how reconnecting with experiences of wonder might support psychological resilience.
