Project Overview:
The FaceSci Pod is an innovative educational assessment designed for my third-year undergraduate module "PY3SFP: The Science of Face Perception" at the University of Reading Malaysia. This project transforms traditional academic assessment by having students create engaging, research-based podcasts that communicate complex face perception concepts to wider audiences.
Project Goals
Educational Innovation: Moving beyond conventional essays to provide authentic, real-world assessment that develops both academic knowledge and digital communication skills.
Science Communication: Training students to translate complex psychological research into accessible, engaging content for general audiences—a crucial skill for modern psychology graduates.
Collaborative Learning: Students work in pairs to record discussions, fostering peer learning while developing individual expertise through independent editing and submission.
The FaceSci Pod represents a forward-thinking approach to psychology education, combining rigorous academic standards with modern communication methods. This assessment model demonstrates how traditional disciplines can embrace innovative pedagogical approaches while maintaining scholarly rigor.
